A Commentary by GP McClure

July 30, 2009

On Tuesday, 14 July 2009, the House of Representatives announced they were introducing a bill which would put a surtax of 5.4 percent on those individuals that make more than a million dollars a year (including small businesses). Of course this amount is subject to change with no notice at all. So my question is: How do you feel about that? Didn't you work seven days a week, eighteen to twenty hours a day, building a business, a life for yourself and your family? Didn't you sacrifice family time, miss birthdays, ball games, and school plays, so that you can have a better life, a better future? What about all those arguments you had with your spouse, about neglecting all those family outings and special occasions so you could grow that business? Is it all for naught? Is it just me thinking that you're getting shafted, or do you feel that you are getting shafted?

I am not a millionaire, but I want to be. I don't have a big fancy house, but I want one. I do not have a wide screen plasma television, but some day I will want one. I do not have any of the things that millionaires have for I am just a lowly salaried employee working to make a living. And while I don't have these things there is one more thing that I don't have: I don't have envy. I don't possess envy for you or any rich person, but I do possess admiration and gratitude for those who are rich.

Why gratitude? Because it is a rich person who has given me a job. It is a rich person who encourages me to be better than I currently am. It is a rich person who has sacrificed time and effort to get where he is today. And I admire his persistence and determination in doing so.

If my boss has to pay more in taxes, he must do something to offset them. That something is known as "layoffs". He will fire people, he will reduce staff, he will cut wages. Hence any pay raise will not happen. In fact I will be lucky if I keep my job. And if this latest atrocity (known as national healthcare) passes … I am not holding my breath about staying employed.

It is easy for a politician to sit on Capital Hill and dictate commands. To write laws that destroy life, our American life, to destroy Capitalism, to destroy the Constitution. It is easy to pretend to care for the "people", when in reality all politicians care about is themselves, their own pocketbook, and their own power. It is easy for a politician to delude themselves into thinking that they are "helping" the "little" person, when just the opposite occurs. If losing my job is their idea of help, I don't want it. They can keep their "help", but they won't. For you see it's not about helping the "little" person, and it's not about socialism, it's about control, it's about slavery. Politicians want the American people to become their slaves and worship them as gods. Obama and his Czars are perfect examples of this "godhood" phenomenon, with Rangel, Reid, and Pelosi being his angles, the main stream media, their choir.

Because of their god complex, politicians believe themselves to be omnipotent and infallible, but the nice little secret is, they aren't. So I ask a simple question: Are you going to permit this travesty to happen? Are you going to permit yourself to become a slave, or are you going to do something about it? The government is a tool of the people, the people are not tools of the government. Politicians work for you, you do not work for them. Politicians should fear you, you should never fear politicians. Isn't it about time you reminded them of that?

There is strength in numbers, power in numbers. And great power in unity. By combining your strengths, your talents, your money, you can defeat these entities who control a government gone rogue. Your choice is simple, unify and give 5.4 percent of your fortune to triumph over these false gods, or give 5.4 percent (and more) as a tithing to these counterfeit deities that will never let you keep anything you worked so hard and long for. The choice is yours, fight, or become cowardly servants, forever indentured, to these self-anointed slave masters.
